The 19 best Italian restaurants in Merritt Island (2024)

Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort is a laid-back and relaxed resort that offers airy suites with ocean views. Recently remodeled, their 2 bedroom, 2 bath luxury suites come complete with full kitchens, making it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway or an extended stay. This family-focused resort boasts adventure activities such as splash-parks and surfing, as well as lounging options at the beach.

We stay for a week at Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort with our sons high school baseball team.We had a GREAT time at the resort. The pool, lazy river and hot tub were great. With older kids we didn't use the splash pad but I did walk threw and it seemed very nice. Our room was very clean. The size of the rooms and layout was well thought out. The bathroom were very nice. The only complaint I have is that there was not a baking pans for cooking. It wasn't a large problem we pick one up when we got groceries. It just helped us keeps the oven clean wail we were cooking in the oven.As a example to the cleanliness of the property one morning I went out and a gentleman was cleaning the grills. When I returned a hour and a half later he was still cleaning the grills. He made sure they looked the same as they did when they brand new. Our room was above the grills and I would see someone check very often on the grills cleanliness and if they had been use they would clean them right away. This was just one example of the great staff of the property and I am hopeful to return again to the Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort.

Great location with lots of restaurants close by. Our 2 bedroom timeshare was in excellent condition. New appliances, had a dish machine and supplies like dish machine soap, dish soap, shampoo, bath soap, paper towels etc. were included. Whenever we requested any additional supplies ( including bag of ice) it was brought to us immediately with a smile. They have an amazing water park for the kids and a lazy river which we enjoyed. A swimming pool and bar and grille with excellent food and drinks. The beds were very comfortable with extra pillows and blankets. The beach was only a 4 minute walk from our room. Its convenient that they rent umbrellas and beach chairs right there at the beach for a reasonable fee of $25 for 2 chairs and an umbrella. Lots of activities for children. It is a wonderful family oriented place. We will definitely be back again.

This was my family’s first time booking through Westgate. Leet me just say this has been one of the worst trips! The rooms are small, they are supposed to be renovated but the furniture is old and has scratches and chips on it, the bottom of our stove was broke, out A/C is not working, the room has an old smell to it, the parking is absolutely horrible!!!! Then they have the nerve to have most of the spots marked for compact cars. If this is a family resort why would you think families travel in compact cars but anyways. I will say the place does have potential to be a great place my kids did enjoy the pool and the lazy River. The food at the bar is horrible. Also everything closes at either 9 or 10. Majority of these reviews has to be fake there were so many complaints from other guests while I was in the lobby asking for an early checkout. The staff is friendly but that because most don’t speak English.

Our friend invited us to stay here with them for the first time and it was the best week of our lives! It was pretty amazing to be able to open your door, walk a couple of steps and then open the gate to the lazy river or the water park. We had a 2 bedroom suite with a kitchen. It was spacious and comfortable. The king bed was super comfortable too. The staff was also attentive to our needs. The property was well maintained. The best part is that the beach is right across the street. We definitely recommend this spot.

Stayed 7 days coming home yesterday. Agree with others the lazy river is very cold. Wonderful kid-friendly facility. 3 rocket launches were awesome. One complaint; with they would take cash since we had plenty of that. Rooms were nice.

Marshall T — Google review

The view was beautiful and the room was nice. We had to request a few things and the service was prompt and courteous. The only dislike is we ordered pizza delivery and they would not allow the driver to drive back to us. We had to walk to the front and carry our hot food all the way back.

This hotel is in a great location and you have access to the beach which is wonderful. It's close to attractions and grocery stores. The pool, splash area and last river are kid favorites and well worth it. The common areas and rooms are very clean but a little outdated. The only downfall is that the parking is not ideal and it can be hard to find a spot near your building. There are also no elevators so it's difficult if you have little kids or mobility issues and you're put in a room on the second floor. Overall, it was a great place to stay and we would return.

We stayed here for a week with 4 kids under the age of 7. We had such an incredible time and the kids loved all of the pool options! This resort has direct easy access to the beach and all the amenities a family needs. Tom the bus driver is amazing and he became quick friends with our kids. The front desk staff is very responsive and happy to help. I can’t say enough good things about our stay.

Great hotel and enjoyed its unique layout. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with a kitchen was perfect for a family. Because only two floors and the courtyard is enclosed you never felt like the facilities were packed Always a chair to find and enjoy. The grounds and facility are spotless and in excellent condition. People were all very helpful and said hello Everytime you encountered someone. Loved that guests would leave their doors and windows open when relaxing in their rooms. Gave it a very laid back safe vibe. My main question before I arrived was since it was not oceanfront how far was it. Literally across the street. Non issue. Very quiet dead end so easy to go to the beach. That the only drawback is not seeing the beach from your room. But all the other wonderful aspects makes it a trivial issue. The staff even cleans down the Weber grills each morning for guests to use during the day and they were used daily. Very cool place and will be back.

Not Much on Curb Appeal, views, or First Impression, but the place grows on you. When we first arrived we thought we made a mistake booking here as we approached a dark brown building with no windows and only small gated entrance ways through which to bring our luggage. When we entered our two bedroom room, it was anything but spacious compared to other Westgate Resorts and both bedrooms were absent of windows. However, once we got situated we started an enjoyable and relaxing week. We found the crowd and the staff to be extremely friendly and the windowless bedrooms were a plus for sleeping. The unit was clean and the beds comfortable. The pool, hot tub and lazy river were great. They also had a small water park for the children. The design of the building, daunting at first, also became a plus as it provided a sense of privacy and security for the resort. While there, our ice maker went out. No problem, the staff were glad to provide a bag of ice. Both times we made the request - they were there with the ice within 10 minutes. Same when we need a few extra supplies. This resort is a timeshare, so there is no daily maid service. However, they will provide clean sheets and towel upon request. There were ample laundry facilities available if needed. (free for Westgate owners)We also enjoyed the Tiki Bar. Susan, the bartender, was extremely friendly and welcoming to all that approached her bar. The food (limited menu) was also good and reasonably priced.Westgate had a very active activities program, kind of reminded me of a cruise ship with the activities and games that they offered. We took the owner update and found it to be not bad as those things run. The representative also answered questions about the resort.Check in and check out was a breeze and everyone on staff we encountered was pleasant and helpful.

We absolutely loved the layout of our suite! It was perfect for a family group. The beds are super comfy - even the twin beds had plush mattresses. There is beach access there at the resort, so don't feel like you have to travel to get to the beach. There are washer/dryers available; while expensive, they are there and clean and function well, so do not worry and overpack clothes. It is also not far to great area restaurants, attractions and shopping. They also take pets, so we were able to bring a dog with us.

Awesome place right next to Cocoa Beach. The units are great sized with good sized bedrooms, bathrooms and living area. We had a full kitchen with dishes. The pool, splash pad and lazy river were very nice. The place is well kept and has activities all throughout the week. Very close to popular tourist attractions like Ron Jon Surf Shop and Kennedy Space Center. There are rocket launches frequently that can be watched from the beach. I highly recommend and will return here myself!

Andrew S — Google review

Booked a 6 day stay here. The pool and lazy river was so cold we couldn’t even get in. We had the LOUDEST people above us. They were rearranging furniture at 1 AM. I took videos of them dragging furniture across the floor. I called the first night and front desk said they would speak to the neighbors. They never did. The next night, same thing. We had to leave a day early because we literally couldn’t go to sleep. All I got was an “I’m sorry about that” when I checked out. Never again!

Loganne V — Google review

I spent 7 days at this so called 2 bedroom condo turned out to be like a motel 6 room we were very unhappy I traded my two units for this one room ....had a shared laundry space in hallway couldn't stand there for more then 2 minutes with dying from the extreme heat. was told beachfront not true you cant even see the beach when we had to drive to it and it was like lake water nasty looking would not wear white lol oh yea no bathrooms at the beach either so hope u don't mind going in the ocean or holding it..also are neighbors were pot smoking fiends I had to smell it everyday but couldn't smoke cigarettes anyway .I will never come back and you can't call this a condo it's more like a motel 6

Barbie G — Google review

The suite was clean and roomy. Do not expect any view from your room as they look out into a courtyard packed with water activities. We could easily hear our neighbors in the next room. No elevators so second story rooms are a challenge. The cost to stay here does not match the facilities, we will not be staying here again.

Roger R — Google review

I am an owner at this resort but only been a couple times. Rooms are spacious and always clean. Resort as a whole is not as big is some other Westgates, but still has all you need to have a truly relaxing week. Bar has plenty of variety. They have a grill for food, but not the biggest selection since it's not a full restaurant. Oceanside which is great. Beach activity rentals are a great amenity and decently priced.

Paul S — Google review

Decent property. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms, hideaway bed, and kitchen. One shower didn't work, so it was only really useful for a second toilet and sink.Pool area closed (locked) at 10pm, even the "adult area." Nowhere to sit outdoors after 10pm.Short drive to "downtown" Cocoa Beach.Would recommend if facilities worked properly and it had a place to hang out after 10pm.Be prepared for a hard sell on time share.

Nels F — Google review

This resort offers everything. A lazy river, water park for the kids, pool, hot tub, adult relaxing area, pool side restaurant/bar with tasty food and drinks, AND it’s right on the beach! The rooms are spacious updated and clean and the staff here are all friendly and so everything they can to make your stay here relaxing and wonderful.

I had an amazing summer experience at Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort with my friends! From the moment we arrived, we were treated to top-notch accommodations and a plethora of activities that kept us entertained throughout our stay. The highlight for us was definitely the lazy river – it was an absolute blast and provided a perfect way to relax and have fun at the same time. The resort's attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction truly stood out. I highly recommend Westgate Cocoa Beach Resort to anyone looking for a fantastic getaway with friends or family!

Rooms were nice and was equipped with most of what we needed. Location was pretty good. Service is pretty good other than the workers that try to get you to upgrade your plan. I think her name was Cheryl? She was so nice and personable until the offers to buy new plans were denied, once she didn't make a sale, we were considered her 'charity case' for the day. I just didn't think that was very nice. Overall the vacation was nice and we enjoyed ourselves at the beach and pool!

Cindy M — Google review

Location is beautiful and the Westgate pier is a must see. The pool and hot tub area was nice. However the lazy river is not heated and was too cold to enter the entire week we were there. Even kids wouldn’t go In it. Rooms were nice, however furniture is old and scratched up. Twin beds were extremely uncomfortable to sleep on and pillow were small square pillows that look like couch throw pillows. Parking area is very narrow lanes that made it hard getting in and out of vehicles.

We are having a great time. The hotel is very family oriented. The lazy river and the water park is the spot for the little ones. We had an issue and Fidel the maintenance supervisor solved it quickly. Fidel was very nice and wanted to help. Big Ray, the bus driver was also of great help and with a great attitude.

This is a nice little resort in the Westgate collection. However, there is a lot of work that is still needed to bring this resort up to par with other Westgate resort. The room had dust everywhere, phone looked like it had nit been cleaned in over a year, dust and food crumbs under bed and couch, mold in bathrooms, microwave is rusting on the inside, hot water barely works in master bathroom, ac doesn't go below 68 degrees if you like a cold room, pool deck needs a lot of work to be updated.Parking is a jokeShort walk to the beach, shuttle to the pier, great spot to watch rocket launches from the cape, nice little lazy river and splash pad, rooms are spacious.Would like to see smart tvs installed to be able to watch our own shows, more food options at the bar or create a restaurant like other Westgate resorts, need a bathroom by the beach, the little food truck would be nice if it had an actual menu of meals instead of chips and candy, feel Westgate should provide owners free chairs and beach umbrellas, have the shuttle take you to other places as wellStaff are helpful but hands down the best staff member on property is Mrs Sue the Bartender. She deserves a raise and look forward to seeing her when we come back

Absolutely loved the resort. The rooms were spacious and well appointed. Loved the lazy river. Walk to beach was less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend this resort.

Sandy D — Google review

Very nice resort. It is strange that they do not have a large reception/check in area - it is very small and crowded. They also do not have a restaurant. The addition of these two things would make the resort much more welcoming and elegant.HOWEVER - the Tki Bar, hot tub, heated pool, children's spray ground, and lazy river are great vacation bonuses! ALSO - the proximity to the beach is excellent!

Lisa P — Google review

Enjoying vacation room nice 5 min walk to ocean service from staff is outstanding, it's raining this morning. I read some reviews that was bad about people worried about cars being broken into but the resort is not in the ghetto but really nice area one side is gated and the other isn't I would feel comfortable parking on the ungated side, there's a Taco Bell next door and waffle house next door to Taco Bell Jimmy John's across street Brando's and subway up street, parking has compact marked my experience has been not perfect no where. It could be better but for what Westgate did here they could only do so much. We came to be close to beach. We are Westgate owner. My motto is, nothing in life is perfect. If of course you happen to be rich you can get everything the way you want it, but for the rest of us we do what we can afford. Hope this helps someone.

Richard G — Google review

It's a nice little resort. Not as big as the resorts we have visited in Orlando. everything is enclosed. The room was warmer than we would have liked even with the temp turned down as far as possible. the lazy river can be a bit loud as it was right outside the room. but overall, I look forward to returning due to the location and how accessible everything is.

Danny — Google review

The room promised was not the room we received, however the manager did offer a change in room location after we requested. They were accommodating. We were extremely disappointed there were no options for Mothers Day breakfast or brunch. We had to go to another hotel for Mothers Day brunch. Very disappointing since there is a kitchen on site. Even something simple would have been sufficient. It was a good experience for Cocoa Beach, but definitely sub par for Westgateas a whole.

VERY DECEIVING! Read this before staying in 2024! I cannot emphasize how horrible this place is. Mom, with 2 kids, checked in here with my family for a stay that we were extremely excited for. The splash pad was ripped down unexpectedly and the pool was closed. The place looked awful. It was so gross. The room we went into was not cleaned (food all over the remote and table). If you are staying here Feb/March/April 2024, I highly recommend you change hotels. We left immediately and found a new hotel that could accommodate us. We wasted almost 2 hours at check in complaining and getting a refund. If we had known in advance that there was no splash pad, we would’ve booked elsewhere prior to coming. The guest service wasn’t honest or forthcoming. The only pool currently open and not under major renovations is very very small and freezing. Never been so disappointed in a hotel in my life.

Sarah B — Google review

When we first arrived it definitely didn’t look as nice as the pictures. We were already disappointed from the start. We were put in a room on the bottom floor: this information will be important later in the review. When we first walked into our room, the first thing we noticed is that it had such an odd smell. Not a regular clean hotel smell, but a bad and unidentifiable smell. When we walked around our room it was obvious that it was smaller than in the pictures and didn’t even look like it was cleaned. The floor was dirty and there was even a black curly hair in the drawer where the metal utensils are. When it was time to go to sleep, all we could hear all night was the sound of furniture in the room above us moving around. Sounded like a chair or table dragging around the floor above us. All. Night. Long. We complained about it to the front desk and they said that there was no one staying in there but there were cleaners up there. I’m sorry but what hotel room cleaner is in there at 12am. We also heard it in the morning around 8am as well. We had the impression that we would be right next to the beach and that the Cocoa Beach Pier was right next to the Westgate in reality its not. The beach is about a 5 minute walk but the pier is a few miles away. Definitely not walking distance like they make it seem in their advertisem*nts. Then, on our 2nd night of staying here, they put a family above us who have small children. The children keep running around and its all we can hear all day and all night. It’s terribly annoying when you’re here to relax/sleep and all you can hear is children running around stomping their feet and crying and screaming, and especially when its happening as late as 11:30pm at night and as early as 8am. We complained multiple times about these people and even had a worker come into our room to listen to how loud it was. They said they would send security but they never did. So the next night (3rd night) we complained about it again, and I made sure security went up there. The security guy was rude and wasn’t helpful at all. Not sure of his name but he was a white guy with glasses. After he went up there and told them about our noise complaint, the people were still making so much noise so we went back up to the front desk. They offered to move us but why should we have to move all of our stuff when we were here first and they are the ones being disruptive. If anything they should move them to a bottom floor so no one else has to be bothered by it or or kick them out. This whole place is outdated. The parking is terrible, they don’t really have a parking lot except for some parking spaces on the side of the building. It’s dimly lit at night and looks ghetto. Another thing I don’t like is the fact that they don’t have a bike rack. We rented beach bikes for the week and didn’t really have anywhere to put them. When we tried chaining them to the fence outside of our room, the staff said we had to move them or put them in our room. We put them in our room but it takes up space in our room that already isn’t even that big enough to begin with. There wasn’t a personal washer and dryer in our room like all of the other Westgates we have been to have had. They have a few washers and dryers that everyone in the entire place has to share. This overall experience has been terrible. This is clearly an old motel that has been made into a Westgate but does not live up anywhere close to Westgate standards. Paper thin walls and ceilings, and it reeked of weed most nights. And we know what a good Westgate should look like because we have stayed at many other ones which have been way nicer.

MacKenzie R — Google review

Rooms are beautiful, recently remodled, immatulately clean, too. I ranked them a 4 because the laundering facilities are outside the room, unlike most Westgates. And there is no private outdoor space, like balconies. However, the total package near the ocean, no hassle beach chairs, and shuttle service makes this our favorite spot in Cocoa Beach.

Nancy — Google review

Really gorgeous resort, and the grounds are kept beautifully decorated. The employees are very friendly and respectful of your time and needs. Highly recommend as a place to enjoy with family or friends.

Richard A — Google review

We booked this so we had a back up plan for the kids if the beach was not usable (which it was not for the majority of our stay). Upon arrival we were notified the splash pad area was under construction (completely ripped out and a concrete floor is all that’s left). We checked and there is NOTHING informing clients on their website or in any communication after booking. We were offered free beach chairs for the unusable beach as a consolation, which are not useful with young children by the ocean even if the waves were not 4ft tall. The location is good, the rooms are good, we had high hopes but the lack of transparency was not ideal.
